Dirt late model silly season is off and running with a move that I don't think is really surprising anyone. That today, plus we'll get you ready for a busy weekend slate of action. Let's go!
It's Thursday, September 11th, Never Forget, I'm Justin Fiedler. This is DIRTRACKR Daily presented by Kubota Genuine Parts.
Today's Daily show is being supported by our friends at ArrowVision. They will be streaming a pair of Comp Cams Super Dirt Series races this weekend from The Rev in Louisiana. The hall of famer Billy Moyer is the series championship leader, with Morgan Bagley, BJ Robinson, Kyle Beard, and Eli Ross the rest of the top five. Ross is also the series leading rookie. Both nights, Friday and Saturday, are $5000 to win and will have various local and USRA classes the two nights as the undercard. If you want to watch, head over to www.arrowvision.live and grab an account. As an added bonus, both of these nights will be streamed for free on the platform, but also on the Arrowvision YouTube channel. It's tough to beat free streamed dirt late model action. I'll put links in the video description to both the streaming website and their YouTube channel. All season long, ArrowVision is the streaming home for the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series, the All American Outlaw Modified Series, and Arrowhead Speedway. You can grab an account and tune in over at www.arrowvision.live.
I've been wondering here lately if we'd have anything meaningful for dirt late model silly season in 2025, because up to this point, it's been pretty quiet. The sprint car world is ablaze with changes and rumors, but nary a peep in late model racing. Well, that was until today anyway. Just here a little bit ago, Mike Marlar announced he's making a big change and departing Skyline Motorsports. After leaving the Ronnie Delk owned team late in 2023, Marlar joined Skyline and made his first appearance for the team at World Finals that year. He kicked off the new partnership by winning the first night out, but it hasn't all been that easy since. Marlar and Skyline were full time with Lucas in 2024, ending the season seventh in the standings, with two wins and 20 top tens. They were never in contention though for the series title or the playoff final four drivers. The two wins were at Golden Isles early in the year, and Brownstown late in the year. He also added a pair of XR Super Series wins, along with a Spring Nationals score. For this season though, Marlar and Skyline were back to a pick and choose schedule, and it's been a grind all season. It looked like there was some hope for a bump in performance when Marlar swapped to an Infinity chassis, but all through the summer, they bounced back and forth between the Infinity and a Longhorn hoping to find something, but the wins just haven't come. Outside of two Ultimate series wins, his only other super late model score was the Outlaw race at Sharon in July. 35 top tens in 71 races, and he's coming off of the World 100 where he missed the big show on Saturday night. In the announcement posted to his website, it was revealed that Skyline Motorsports owner Greg Bruening will stay involved with Marlar as a sponsor as the Tennessee driver moves back to drive a car owned by Ronnie Delk. The release does not say when we'll see Marlar race again, but there are plenty of options coming up. As for Skyline, no word on who could get in their second car. Besides fielding Tyler Bruening, Skyline's second seat has been filled in the past by Chris Madden and Shane Clanton before Marlar got in it. Tyler Bruening started 2025 as a full time Outlaw driver before falling off and going back pick and choose as well. He's got two wins on the year, including his first ever Lucas score back in January at Golden Isles, and he was a Malvern Bank series winner a few weeks ago at Cresco Speedway. With as much as they seem to have struggled, this move doesn't really surprise me. We'll see if Marlar can find some magic again driving for Delk.
Looking around, I haven't heard of any other impending dirt late model moves, and I don't think I'd expect any bombshells like we had last year. I would venture to guess that most of the drivers in the Dirt on Dirt top 25 are secure in their spots for 2026. That's not to say there couldn't be a surprise, or that there won't be lower level moves. It does seem like these things are cyclical though. You have a crazy year, then things quiet down for a year or two, before owners and drivers start getting itchy again.
Diving into racing coming up, we've got the FloRacing Night in America Series at Bulls Gap tonight for $20,000 to win. Bobby Pierce has a significant lead over Jonathan Davenport for the championship, and Pierce leads all drivers with three wins through six races. Davenport, Devin Moran, and Hudson O'Neal have the other three victories. It should be a good field tonight, with a lot of the national touring guys coming through. There is no Lucas this weekend, but there is Outlaws and a lot of regional racing, so I do think it's possible some guys will race tonight and them maybe take the rest of the weekend off. Tonight is the Scott Bloomquist Memorial, and this event was won by Camaron Marlar a year ago, but it was unsanctioned then. The Flo series after tonight heads to Haubstadt on September 24th.
Talking about the World of Outlaws late models, they take on Needmore and Senoia on Thursday and Friday. Both of those are Georgia race tracks. I've been asked to mention what states tracks are in, so I'm trying to be better about that. $12k to win at Needmore, and $15k to win at Senoia. Pierce maintaining a triple digit points leader with Nick Hoffman 108 back in second. Ryan Gustin in third and everyone else on back is 248 points behind or more. It certainly looks like BP32 is headed for the Outlaw title with the season starting to wind down. We've got just nine races left including this weekend. Pierce has won the last four Outlaw shows going back to Spoon River on August 14th. I think at this point, he'd need to have trouble and Hoffman would have to get hot to really bring things back to even. It's been 14 years since the Outlaws were at Needmore, and they haven't been at Senoia since 2021.
Other late model shows to check out this weekend include the ULMS at Outlaw in New York on Friday. That's a co-sanction with the Fall Clash. MARS is at Davenport for two nights, Iron Man has Hidden Hollow and Muskingum County, there are unsanctioned shows at Stateline and Selinsgrove, plus Ultimate and more. Check out the schedule page at dirtondirt.com for a nice comprehensive schedule.
Josh Zimpel won last night's WISSOTA CHallenge Series finale. Dave Mass the 2025 series champion. WISSOTA 100 action starts tonight.
Our two national touring sprint car series are at opposite ends of the country with the World of Outlaws in California and High Limit in Pennsylvania. It's the Commonwealth Clash for the Kubota High Limit sprint cars with two nights set for Lernerville Speedway. All the High Limit guys, plus some Central PA teams coming through. This championship battle will continue to lead the conversation with Rico Abreu leading the drivers standings over Brad Sweet by 45 points, and the RSR 87 leading the owners points by 21 over Rico's squad. I think it's a very solid possibility we end up with split champions this year. Corey Day and Tyler Courtney split these races a year ago, but neither will be in competition this weekend. Sunshine still recovering from his injury, although you will hear him and see him on the FloRacing broacasts. And Justin Sanders will be in the Meyers 14. Carson Macedo won the High Limit stop at Lernerville back in July. He won't be there either. A big question for me will be if Brad Sweet can get his season turned back around. He's got six straight double digit finishes, and he hasn't won since Florence back in July. With Reutzel looking good even with that broken foot, and Rico's run at Skagit, Sweet has lost a bunch of ground in recent weeks. Some of it though not their fault. Skagit was a lot of bad luck. There won't be any intrigue for the franchises, with those positions basically sewed up, barring any teams deciding to pull off the tour, which nobody foresees.
Out in California, it's Kern and Perris for the World of Outlaws. No championship battle to speak of, and no winners not named David Gravel, Buddy Kofoid, or Carson Macedo since July. That is if you take out the Knoxville Nationals. Logan Schuchart has had some good runs and led some laps, but he hasn't won an Outlaw show since May. Donny Schatz is in the Works Limited car with Paul Silva again, Spencer Bayston takes over the Tarlton ride for a few weeks, and Dominic Scelzi is getting help from the Venturas. We'll see if any Cali guys can rise up, or if it will be all Outlaws. One of the state's best obviously won't be there, with Sanders in PA.
The other weekend to check out is the All Stars at Fremont Friday and Saturday. These two races close out the 2025 season for the series, and the top four in the standings are separated by just 56 points. Kalib Henry leads Cale Thomas, Zane DeVault, and Devon Borden. I'd give the edge to Henry, but I think anything could still happen. Henry and Parker Price Miller lead all drivers with four wins each. There is also IRA, MOWA, MSTS, POWRi and local action in places like PA. Also, it's the big 360 Northern Sprint Car Nationals weekend at Ohsweken in Canada. Tonight is practice for sprint cars along with thunder stocks and mini stocks. Friday is crate sprint cars and twin 15s for the 360s plus other racing. And Saturday is the big $20,000 to win and $2000 to start show.
If you want non-wing, USAC has the Haubstadt Hustler and Circle City. $20,000 to win on Saturday at Haubstadt. Kyle Cummins well in control of the title fight, but everything behind him is still up for grabs.
Not interested in sprint cars or late models? Check out the USMTS modifieds at Tri-State Speedway in Oklahoma for the next three nights. And it's Fonda 200 week for the Short Track Super Series. $22,000 to win on Saturday night. Matt Sheppard looking good to win both regional championships with that series.
That's the Daily show for this week. Appreciate all of the views and support. Make sure to check out the streaming schedule over at dirtrackr.com/watchtonight over the next few days.
Hope you guys have a great Thursday and weekend out there, we'll see you back here on Sunday!
