A championship on the line tonight, there are still plenty of open sprint car questions for 2026, and what is going on with Bobby Pierce? That and more today, let's go!
It's Wednesday, October 15th, I'm Justin Fiedler. This is DIRTRACKR Daily presented by Kubota Genuine Parts.

Tonight at Lucas Oil Speedway, we'll wrap up the first of two High Limit championships for the year. Today it's the midweek title, and then this coming weekend it will be the season long championship. The midweek deal will come down to four drivers, with Rico Abreu currently leading Tanner Thorson, Brad Sweet, and Aaron Reutzel. All four drivers are separated by just 12 points. This thing is pretty much anyone's game. So far in it's history, High Limit has held five shows at Wheatland, and it's been a mix of winners. Tyler Courtney has two victories, and Rico, Sweet, and Reutzel have one each. As for average finish, Sweet leads all drivers with a 3.6, Reutzel is at 4.75, Thorson 6.4, and Rico 7 even. Coming off the win last week, and his better average finish, maybe a slight nod tonight to Sweet. Sweet also leads in average finish over the last five and ten race stretches with High Limit, as he and the KKR 49 have tried to claw their way back into the fight with Rico for the overall championship. Tonight's show is $12,000 to win, and the midweek champion will take home $20,000. You will see some World of Outlaws teams in attendance tonight, before their three race weekend. Hunter Schuerenberg will be there, and the TSR 15 with Kerry Madsen is racing. Both teams still had freebies left to use, as we discussed the other day. Besides the midweek deal, we are down as well to the final three races for the season long title, and tonight's race will factor into that also. A lot to play for for three race teams, so things should be ramped up more and more over the next few nights. With things wrapping up, I wouldn't be surprised to see some news start to get confirmed, especially at the High Limit banquet.
One team I was asked about in the comment section yesterday was the Buch 13. Daison Pursley driving it currently, but all signs are pointing to him moving on for 2026. So the big question is what will team owner Tom Buch do with that car for next year. They are in line to earn a High Limit franchise, so if he wanted, he could sell that and get out. While that is an option though, I think it's more likely he keeps rolling, but obviously he'll need a new driver. Who that driver will be though, I'm not even sure Buch knows. I've heard a name or two mentioned in connection with this ride, but the information right now isn't really solid enough to discuss. As the other available rides start to dry up, this could be an opportunity for someone we haven't seen before step onto a national tour with a proven race winning team. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go younger again, but who exactly it is we'll have to wait and see. I think right now big open sprint car questions still to answer include who drives this car, meaning the Buch 13, plus what does Brad Sweet do next year. A lot of rumors and rumblings about his future in the seat. What does Brenham Crouch and CJB do. Not a lot of good info floating around about them right now. And do drivers like Sye Lynch, Chase Randall, and Danny Sams stay on tour. On the Outlaw side it's Donny Schatz's future. A lot of hot and cold rumors around him. Does the Vermeer ride end up with Kerry Madsen on tour full time. What's likely next for Hunter Schuerenberg. And do some of those lower down teams stay on tour for 2026. We know that Shark Racing and Ashton Torgerson are planning a national tour jump, do they go Outlaws or High Limit. And will we see Emerson Axsom make the jump with KPM. Another driver who I've heard is exploring another full time series is Landon Crawley. He's in the Herrera car, and Crawley has run the Outlaws before. Beyond that, we start to get into regional stuff, what does Tanner Holmes do, and on down the line.
Something else I wanted to mention today. I get messages pretty regularly from people looking to get into the sport of dirt racing, looking for crew jobs, etc. I wish I had a better way to respond to them, but in reality, there is no central hub or single place to go if you're looking for a dirt racing job. Some teams post open calls for crew member resumes from time to time, and when I see them, I try and share on social media. A lot of that stuff though is just word of mouth. If you are looking for a racing job, reach out to teams directly, and use whatever dirt track and dirt racing network you have. In many cases, crew members get recommended around, and the best way to get in, is to be at your local tracks, helping out. Especially to get onto a top level sprint car or late model team, they are rarely going to hire people with zero experience. It helps as well, especially on the sprint car side, if you have a class A CDL. Being able to help drive the truck is a big deal beyond knowing how to wrech on cars. My best advice is find someone to help at your local track, start reaching out, and just pound the pavement.
Moving on, I'm sure you know that the Dirt Track World Championship is this weekend, and the event will conclude the Lucas championship chase. It looks like it's down to Devin Moran versus Ricky Thornton Jr., but Jonathan Davenport does still have a very slight chance. Last year at the DTWC, while RTJ was headed for Lucas title number one, Bobby Pierce was driving from 14th to win the $100,000 big check at Eldora. Pierce will be looking to repeat this year, but he's coming into the weekend in the midst of a bit of slump. He's on his way to the World of Outlaws championship, but he hasn't won a dirt late model race since August 23rd at Arrowhead Speedway. That win was his fourth Outlaw victory in a row at the time, and his sixth win in eight races. Since then, he's got 15 straight races without a win, and I've started to see some chatter about what's going on with him. Of note, this is his longest winless streak since the 2022 season. He's been on one of the more ridiculous runs of good performances though in the history of the sport the last few years, and even with the recent win drought, he's still got 29 victories in 2025. I wonder lately if this is just an illustration of bad luck and circumstances though, versus some downturn. I'm curious as well what you guys think. He's got six podium results and 11 top tens during this 15 race stretch. At Boothill last weekend, he was second both nights. And he was scheduled to start on the pole at 81 Speedway on October 4th, but was sent to the tail at the start for that unapproved adjustment. It's not like he's suddenly running badly. There has been plenty of speed. Eldora too has been good to him lately, he won the World last year, was second at the Dream this year, and ninth at the World in September. Drop a comment and let me know your thoughts on Pierce's recent run of winless appearances.
