Eldora Speedway is back! Two Dreams, two Kings Royals, two World 100s! | DIRTRACKR Daily 4/14/21

It is Wednesday, April 14th, two thousand and twenty one and you are tuned into DIRTRACKR Daily. I'm Justin Fiedler.

Today we've got big news from Eldora, more schedule changes for the ASCS, Big Frog Motorsports has a new driver, the MLRA late models have a busy week, and more, so let's jump in.

There have been a lot of cryptic tweets, rumors and innuendo, but we finally got the Eldora Speedway announcement we've been waiting on. Last night the famed Ohio dirt track announced their full slate of 2021 races and the return of fans for the first time since 2019. The track has 24 events on the schedule, starting with the Lets Race Two doubleheader on May 7th and 8th, featuring the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and the USAC National Sprint Cars. From there, things get crazy. Because of missed events in 2020, Eldora will hold not one, but two Dirt Late Model Dreams, with one paying $127,000 to win and the other paying $126,000 to win. The two Dreams are scheduled for June 10th and 12th. There will also be two $175,000 to win Kings Royals for the sprint cars on July 15th and July 17th. That's huge money and two crowns up for grabs in a weekend that will be sure to draw a fantastic field of 410s. And then in September, the action continues when Eldora will hold two World 100s for the late models, with the first on September 8th and the second on September 11th. Those will be the 51st and 50th World 100s. Those three weeks of racing should be pretty incredible for both the fans and competitors, especially with Eldora allowing fans once again on the property. Also on the schedule for 2021 is the new Superstar Racing Experience from Tony Stewart and Ray Evernham that takes place June 25th and 26th. The USAC Silver Crown Series is also on the slate that weekend. And the year will close out September 24th and 25th for the traditional 4-Crown weekend which features the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, USAC Midgets, USAC Sprint Cars, Silver Crown Series, and All Star Circuit of Champions. This will be a fantastic return to normalcy at Eldora after the previous year which only saw three events happen at the track in the Dirt Late Model Stream, Intercontinental Classic, and Governors Reign, all which were only available to fans online. Kudos to Tony Stewart and Roger Slack for putting this schedule together and for the money that will be paid out. The weather related hits just keep on coming for the ASCS National Tour. With the previous four scheduled events lost to rain, the series announced yesterday that Friday's race at 300 Raceway in Iowa has been sacked because of near freezing temperatures in the forecast. The 360 sprint car series is still planning to race on Saturday night at Park Jefferson International Speedway in South Dakota, with $3000 going to the winner of that race. Washington's JJ Hickle won the two opening races at Devil's Bowl Speedway back on March 19th and 20th, and he leads the series points standings over Matt Covington, Scott Bogucki, Roger Crockett, and Blake Hahn. Hopefully things go to plan this week, and they can get to racing on Saturday night. If you can't be at Park Jefferson, both FloRacing and RacinBoys will have live streaming coverage of the night.

Following the recent departure of Ross Bailes from the team, Big Frog Motorsports announced yesterday that Mike Marlar will join the team for select events coming up. Their first race will be April 21st at Atomic Speedway in Ohio, which is part of the FloRacing Night in America Series. That race pays $22,000 to the winner. Marlar will continue his pursuit of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championship with car owner Ronnie Delk and the number 157 machine that he's synonymous with, but these races with Big Frog will allow Marlar some more seat time and a chance to race several events that weren't originally on his schedule. Marlar is currently seventh in Lucas points, with two top fives and five top tens in 10 starts this season. His best finish is a second at Bubba Raceway Park back on February 1st. Marlar trails series points leader Hudson O'Neal by 160 points. Big Frog and Marlar are still working on the remainder of their schedule, but Marlar said they do plan on all the FloRacing shows, along with select Southern Nationals and Summer Nationals events, along with other races. The Lucas Oil MLRA Late Models started a five race week last night at I-80 Speedway in Nebraska. Because of the rainout last weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway, this week of races now officially opens the MLRA 2021 season. Tony Jackson Jr. took the win last night at I-80 in the 35 lap, $5000 to win show that went caution free. He topped Chase Junghans, Ashton Winger, Mason Oberkramer, and Billy Moyer Sr. But last night's racing was just the start. Tonight the series heads to Stuart International Speedway in Iowa for another $5000 to win show that also pays $500 to start. Thursday action shifts to Davenport Speedway for another $5000 to win event, and then Friday and Saturday the series ends the busy week at 34 Raceway for the Slocum 50 weekend. Friday night's show pays $5000 to win, which leads into the $10,555 to win Slocum 50 on Saturday night that also pays $750 to start. Defending Slocum 50 winner Bobby Pierce is expected to compete again at 34 Raceway, along with Shannon Babb, Chris Simpson, and Ryan Unzicker. If you can't attend the races this week, the next two nights, at Stuart and Davenport are live on XR+, while the Slocum 50 weekend at 34 Raceway is available on FloRacing.
