Peck leads All Stars to Virginia, Flo Night in America at Tyler County | DIRTRACKR Daily 4/15/21

It is Thursday, April 15th, two thousand and twenty one and you are tuned into DIRTRACKR Daily. I'm Justin Fiedler.

Today on the show we'll preview tonight's action for the All Star Circuit of Champions and FloRacing Night in America, there was some drama last night with the MLRA late models, and more so let's jump in.

The All Star Circuit of Champions kick off a four race weekend starting tonight at Virginia Motor Speedway with $12,000 to the winner. They last raced on April 3rd at Attica, where Justin Peck was victorious in the season's first points paying event. Following tonight, the All Stars head to Pennsylvania for three more races, Friday night at Williams Grove for $6000 to win, Saturday at Port Royal for $10,000 to win, and Sunday at Bedford Speedway for another $6000 to win show. With the one points paying race in the books, Justin Peck leads Zeb Wise, Hunter Scheurenberg, Brent Marks, and Cory Eliason in the standings. Peck has been one of the hottest sprint car drivers in the country in recent weeks, winning with the All Stars and in Pennsylvania. Peck also finished 3rd at Kokomo and 9th at Haubstadt with the Outlaws last weekend. He and his Buch team have certainly inserted themselves in the conversation for All Star champion with their performances as of late. Virginia Motor Speedway is a big 1/2 mile track that sits just to the east of Richmond near the Chesapeake Bay. Cory Eliason is the most recent winner at the track, topping Danny Dietrich and Brock Zearfoss back in 2019. With Pennsylvania near by and on tap for the weekend, you'll probably see a decent number of those guys race tonight, and I'd guess we'll be in the neighborhood of 25ish cars. Looking at a possible winner from the dirtrackr.com analytics prediction formula, Danny Dietrich tops the list of drivers in win chances. He's a pretty sizeable favorite, with guys like Eliason and Brent Marks trailing him. Dietrich has four All Star wins in recent seasons, and with one Central PA win already this season, he'll be looking for more. A couple of All Star regulars that will be looking to rebound tonight are Kyle Reinhardt and Lucas Wolfe. Reinhardt missed the feature at Attica a few weeks ago, and Wolfe was in an incident and finished 22nd. With as strong as this All Star field is, you can't have too many nights like that and stay in the points chase. If you can't be at Virginia Motor Speedway tonight, tune in live on FloRacing.

After a couple of rainout and postponements, tonight finally opens the FloRacing Night in America Late Model Series. Tyler County Speedway in West Virginia will host tonight, with $10,000 going to the winner. We've talked about this series on the show before, but just in case you need a refresher, the series was put together by Michael Rigsby, Ben Shelton, and their crew at FloRacing. The series will run mid week shows for good money, and will allow a lot of the national series regulars and stars to race without interfering with their normal schedules. Drivers only need to run seven of ten nights to qualify for the points fund, and there are a ton of nice incentives available for drivers that race through the year. The championship winner will take home $20,000, while tenth will get $2000. Check out my recent conversations episode with Ben Shelton where we talked more about the late model season and previewed the series. If you don't know about Tyler County, it's a cool little bullring in West Virginia, but it's not far from both the Ohio and Pennsylvania borders. You can be to Tyler County from Pittsburgh in just a little over two hours in the car. The track has hosted the World of Outlaws Late Model Series in the past, and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will be there later in September for a $30,000 to win show. Looking at tonight, we should be close to 35 or 40 cars in attendance with the Outlaws off and Lucas in Maryland and Pennsylvania this weekend. Some names we should see there tonight include Jonathan Davenport, Josh Richards, Hudson O'Neal, Tyler Erb, Devin Moran, Mason Zeigler, Steve Casebolt, and many others. Richards is the most recent Lucas winner at the track, back in 2019. He's also won there with the Outlaws. Erb, Overton, and Davenport have also won at Tyler County in recent years as well. Richards and Moran are coming off those Bristol wins with the Outlaws, so they will be looking to continue that momentum. If you can't be at Tyler County tonight, FloRacing has live streaming coverage tonight including a studio show featuring Rigsby and Derek Kessinger.

The MLRA late models were in action last night at Stuart International Speedway in Iowa as their busy week of racing continues. At the end of the 40 lapper, World of Outlaws Late Model Series rookie Ryan Gustin took the checkered flag as the apparent race winner, but there was drama after the race concluded. In a post race inspection of his race car, Gustin was found to have an illegal rear-suspension component which resulted in a disqualification from the event. According to MLRA, Gustin's top four bar rod was curved, which is not legal according to MLRA rules. The left lower is the only radius rod that is allowed to not be straight. The DQ for Gustin handed the win to Jesse Stovall who had led much of night's feature. Garrett Alberson, Frank Heckenast Jr., Chris Simpson, Jake Timm, and Chad Simpson rounded out the top five. The $5000 score was the 27th career MLRA victory for Stovall. The MLRA's packed week continues tonight with another $5000 to win show at Davenport Speedway before the series heads to 34 Raceway Friday and Saturday. You can watch live tonight on XR+.

I dropped a new conversations episode yesterday featuring Placerville Speedway and Sprint Car Challenge Tour announcery Gary Thomas. Gary is locked into the dirt racing community in California and we talked a bunch of sprint car stuff, including drivers to watch, Gary's thoughts on the California guys on the national scene, what he's excited for in 2021, and a lot more. Check it out in the podcast feed or the DIRTRACKR YouTube channel.

There are five shows on the streaming schedule for tonight. FloRacing has the All Stars at Virginia Motor Speedway, FloRacing night in America at Tyler County, weekly racing from Georgetown Speedway, and Flo 24/7. XR+ has the MLRA late models from Davenport Speedway. To see the full daily streaming schedule with links to watch, visit dirtrackr.com/watchtonight.

I do plan on going live tonight on YouTube for another watch party. I'm thinking maybe around 8 or 8:30 PM ET we put on the All Star race in Virginia and the Flo Night in America race from Tyler County on and hang out for a while. If you're around, stop in and say hi and watch some racing with us. You can find the stream at YouTube.com/dirtrackr. I'll also post on social media and drop an email to newsletter subscribers.
